meet the founders
Andrew Zelade (Co-Founder and Pitmaster), was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and immersed in BBQ culture from an early age. Influenced by his father’s writing on Texas history and barbecue, Andrew got his start at the legendary John Mueller’s before working at several Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ spots, including Terry Black’s and Hurtado, along with Rollin’ Smoke in Austin. His experience and deep respect for the craft shape the flavors behind every smoke.
Anthony Hashem (Co-Founder) is a Jacksonville native and third-generation restaurateur. He founded the viral brand The Happy Grilled Cheese in 2013 and expanded it to Austin in 2019. During Austin’s entertainment boom, he also became co-owner of Sunset Strip Comedy on historic 6th Street. His time in Texas fueled a passion for authentic BBQ and the drive to bring those flavors back to Jacksonville.
Together, they blend Texas BBQ tradition with hospitality and community, creating Yellow Rose BBQ.
